Artist research- Clean Bandit
Clean bandit are a full interment band that work around the electric/dance genre formed in Cambridge which make their own music and feature vocal arts in the songs. The group consists of Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto, and Milan Neil Amin-Smith. The band was formed in 2006 where they all met while they were studying in Cambridge University. At first many record labels refused to sign them as they thought that they were a parody band. But they didn’t give up and continued on their independent music wave and eventually were signed by black butter records and now Atlantic Records UK.
Clean have been known to have very a unique since of style of mixing electronic music with classical and deep-house elements they also been known for carrying this unique sense of style in their music videos as well which are also made independently by they also include hidden messages and references to culture in them.
They have also been have successful in the recent years with their release of Rather be featuring Jess Glynne which was their fourth single which was released on 19 January 2014 and topped the UK Singles Chart at number 1 for 4 weeks. Also reached 3× Platinum in Australia, 2× Platinum in the UK and Platinum in the US.
The reasons chose to analysis clean bandit was because there are great example of the sense of imagination and unique style you get from house music and house music videos and also conveying messages through unconventional methods which is what I really like about them. They are the new wave in dance music!
